Can I use my WEH® Quick Connector at a different pressure?

In many cases, using a device at a pressure lower than the maximum allowable operating pressure is possible without issue. However, we recommend checking this on a case-by-case basis—especially with regard to the safety requirements of your application.

If you are unsure, we will be happy to advise you on the suitable pressure ranges for your device.

How long is the delivery time for a WEH® Quick Connector?

Many of our standard WEH® Quick Connectors and spare parts are available from stock—in this case, delivery usually takes place within one week.
Products that require assembly are generally shipped within 3 to 4 weeks.
For customized solutions or specially manufactured parts, delivery time can range between 6 and 8 weeks—in some cases up to 10 weeks.

Our goal: to deliver as quickly as possible—so your processes continue to run smoothly.

Which documents do I need to provide to WEH?

To develop or recommend the right connector for your application, we need detailed drawings—ideally including dimensions and tolerance specifications.

In special cases, e.g., with valves featuring a residual pressure pin or complex geometries, we specifically request test samples. This ensures that the connector fits perfectly and meets your requirements.

Where can I get the dimensions of the O-rings to source replacements for my existing WEH® Connector?

To ensure you can always rely on the proven WEH quality and safety, only WEH® original parts may be used—especially for safety-relevant components such as O-rings. Our sealing elements are precisely matched to each product—in geometry, material, and resistance. This is the only way we can guarantee reliable function and maximum service life.

Important: The use of non-original O-rings may lead to leaks or functional failures and can affect potential warranty claims.

The suitable original spare parts can be found in the respective operating instructions of your product: shop.weh.com/en/downloads/operating-instructions

Our team will be happy to advise you personally if you need support in selecting the right parts.

What are the service intervals for WEH® Refueling Components?

Refueling components such as breakaway couplings and fueling nozzles have a service interval of 3 years or 20,000 cycles (whichever comes first), starting from the delivery date.

Products used in maritime applications must be sent to WEH for maintenance no later than 12 months after delivery.

How does "purging" work during H2 refueling?

During purging, nitrogen or dry air is fed into the designated drain holes of the H2 filling coupling via the purge line in order to expel or drain moisture/condensation and thus prevent ice formation (freezing) during and after refueling.

Further details here

What are the benefits of the TK20 H2 compared to the TK17 H2?

The TK20 H2 was designed as a further development of the proven TK17 H2 with a focus on higher performance, safety, and user friendliness:

- H35 version: Optimized Kv value for improved flow
- H70 version: Suitable for flow rates of up to 90 g/s
- Globally standardized data interface for all variants
- Purge function available even for non-IR versions
- Improved leak-tightness in the low-pressure range
- More robust swivel joint for high cycle counts
- Completely redesigned internal components using high-quality materials
- Color coding (red/green) to indicate connection status
- MAWP: 962.5 bar (H70) / 481.25 bar (H35)

👉 To the product page TK20 H2

What pressure must WEH® H₂ refueling components withstand?

According to ISO 19880-1:2020 and ISO 17268-1:2024(E), a distinction is made between two pressure terms:

MOP (Maximum Operating Pressure):
Applies to vehicle components such as receptacles
– H35: 43.75 MPa
– H70: 87.5 MPa

MAWP (Maximum Allowable Working Pressure):
Applies to fueling station components such as nozzles, hoses, and breakaway devices
– H35: 48.125 MPa
– H70: 96.25 MPa

According to the Pressure Equipment Directive, the MAWP (PS) is decisive for design.

Are WEH products ATEX compliant?

Upon request, WEH provides the corresponding manufacturer certificates.
Electrical components installed in equipment can represent a potential ignition source. Therefore, WEH uses only certified data interfaces in its fueling nozzles.

What flow rates are WEH H2 products suitable for?

WEH refueling components meet the highest requirements according to ISO standards – ensuring safe and high-performance hydrogen refueling:

- ISO 19880-1: Standard flow rate of 60 g/s (“Normal Flow”)
- H35 MF (formerly H35 HF): For up to 120 g/s in passenger vehicle -refueling
- Term “High-Flow”: Reserved exclusively for heavy-duty vehicle refueling
- TK20 series: Flow rates of up to 90 g/s with minimal pressure drop
- TK16-H35, TK17-H35, and TK17-H70: Designed for 60 g/s

👉 To the WEH refueling nozzle product overview

How is the flow rate determined?

WEH provides comprehensive flow measurement protocols for its refueling components – ensuring maximum transparency and comparability:

- Provision of official measurement reports
- Specification of the Kv value (m³/h at Δp = 1 bar)
- Reference medium: air, or water for larger cross-sections
- Uniform basis for design and comparison

What is meant by freezing?

When refueling with pre-cooled hydrogen, individual components can become chilled and freeze – a phenomenon referred to as freezing:

- Affected components: breakaway couplings, hoses, fueling nozzles, receptacles
- Cause: Cooling effect from pre-cooled hydrogen
- Consequences: Condensation and icing
- Extreme case: Nozzle freezes onto the receptacle and cannot be removed immediately
- Remedy: Wait until the components have warmed up again

Prevention with Anti-Freeze Technology from WEH

What options does WEH offer to prevent freezing effects?

The WEH Anti-Freeze Technology reliably prevents freezing during hydrogen refueling – for increased safety and availability:

- Integrated purge line in TK20 H2 70 MPa ENR and TK20 H2 35 MPa ENR
- Purging can be performed via the nozzle or the holder
- Additional anti-freeze measures implemented since July 2025
- New inverted holder for targeted drainage of condensate
- Detailed information available in the Q&A document
