Bossard Germany and WEH: A successful partnership for 40 years!
Together for 40 years – in marriage, that’s a ruby anniversary. In business, it’s just as meaningful – and a milestone we’re truly proud of! With Bossard, we celebrate our longest-standing partnership.
Our shared journey began in 1985
Back then, the company – known first as König and later as KVT Verbindungstechnik – took over the distribution of WEH® quick connectors in Germany.
Our company founder, Erwin Weh, was truly ahead of his time: together with colleagues from Bossard, he visited customers on-site, reviewed their varied – and often quite complex – requirements, and set to work developing solutions.
Together, many connector types were created that are now in use worldwide.
Bossard’s strong field and in-house sales teams played a major role in making the WEH® quick connectors well known throughout Germany. Today, many renowned customers use our products in a wide range of applications.
Jennifer Zoller, Expert Engineering Professional at Bossard, sums up the developments over the years:
“Back then, we stood at the customer’s components with a folding ruler, measuring the connection points and surrounding interfering contours. We also received a lot of customer samples to customize the connectors to their specific parts. Nowadays, we mostly work with 3D models – manual measurements are rarely needed anymore.”
On the same wavelength
But there’s even more that connects us: In 2023, both WEH and Bossard celebrated their 50th anniversaries.
“For us, WEH is not just a supplier. The employees at WEH are our colleagues,” emphasizes Jennifer Zoller.
Finding the perfect solution together – that’s what drives us
To deliver the ideal solution for our customers, we maintain close communication with our partners. Marcus Ritter, Head of Products & Services at Bossard, clearly shares the enthusiasm for WEH® quick connectors:
“Our customers consistently praise the excellent technical consulting provided by the Bossard/WEH teams, as well as the durability and outstanding quality of the connectors. Especially the ergonomic advantages and time savings are frequently mentioned as positive feedback.”
Together, we’ve already realized many exciting projects – two stand out in particular:
„Every aircraft has a valve located beneath the landing gear area, featuring a male thread and a pin inside. The challenge was to connect and seal a connector onto the male thread and then, in a pulling motion, open the pin. To solve this, we created a so-called “James Bond coupling” – the customers were delighted. Another memorable project involved an automotive manufacturer for engine testing: In addition to many standardized connector types, there were several connections that were particularly challenging. Two especially unique solutions were the so-called ‘ice pick’ used as a piston puller, and the ‘turtle connector, which uses two gripping arms to engage a flange-like connection.”
Together, we’ve already overcome many challenges and look forward to continuing our collaboration and tackling exciting projects with our colleagues from Bossard.
At the end of April, we visited Bossard and brought along a gift basket filled to the brim for our colleagues. During our meeting, we had engaging conversations and were also able to discuss the next steps for the future.
